Our Family

Jim & Candie Murr started Dun-Rite Roofing in 1992 right from their home office in Owasso.  All while raising their 3 young daughters at the time, Shala (14), Amber (12) & Amanda (7).

Nearly 30 years have passed and Dun-Rite continues to grow and is recognized as one of the leading Roofing Companies in the area.  Dun-Rite is now very much a family endeavor.  Each of the Murr girls went on to obtain their education and gain experience in the business world.  But over time, they’ve come back to help dad as business has exploded.  

The family also continues to grow. As of 2022, Jim and Candie now have a total of 8 grandchildren ranging from 25 to 3. (6 boys and 2 girls) As well as a great grandson.

Pictured above, Jim and Candie with 6 of their 8 grandchildren in 2020. The oldest 2 grandsons were unable to make it home to Oklahoma for the holidays that year.

ABOUT THE GIRLS

Amber is the second born but she was the first to come help out Dad when things became too busy for him on his own.  Amber is married to Doug Hazelwood.  Together they have 3 children they are raising in Owasso.  Brycen (18), Bayleigh (15) and Bruer (10).  (as of 2022)

Amber currently handles the majority of Dun-Rites’ roofing estimates.  She’s also the go-to person for insurance claims.  She does an outstanding job working for each client and making sure they have an exceptional experience from beginning to end.  She’s basically the one running the show alongside her dad. Amber’s husband Doug is Dun-Rite’s top gutter guy.  

Doug Hazelwood has been with the company off and on for many years. He has served in multiple capacities over the years. Occasionally, you might find Brycen Hazelwood helping out his dad with gutter jobs on the weekends, as we prepare for the 3rd Generation of the Murr family to enter the family business. 😉

Grace Murr began her employment with Dun-Rite in 2019. She started at the front desk and quickly moved to outside sales and project management. Grace handled the majority of our gutter estimates.

Grace is married to the youngest of the Murr girls, Amanda, who is a Human Resources Director. Together they are raising their 3 year old daughter Landry. Amanda & Grace are also proud parents to their fur-babies: Meg, Manley and McGyver.

In 2021 Amanda accepted a position with a company located in Denver. The girls have since relocated.

Shala is the oldest of the girls but she took the longest to get involved in the family business. For nearly 8 years Shala was the Marketing and Membership Director for the Owasso Chamber of Commerce, a position she never imagined she would leave. During the 2020 pandemic the chamber took a big hit and the staff was temporarily furloughed. During that time, Oklahoma experienced several hail and wind storms, which led to Dun-Rite being busier than ever before. Amber convinced Jim it was time to bring in another family member to help run the front office. With Shala’s marketing experience, Amber already had big ideas for her sister. Shala accepted the position in November 2020 and together these sisters have been collaborating on how to continue the legacy their father created.

Shala is the proud mother of 4 boys which she has raised in the Owasso area over the past 25 years. Her oldest son RJ recently returned home after 6 years in the Air Force. He and his 22 month old son have moved back in to Shala’s home and she is ecstatic to have them there! Her second born, Brayden (23) recently moved to Altus after living and working in North Carolina. Her final 2 boys are currently in High School. Aidan (18) and Elijah (16). Aidan will be attending OSU in the fall of 2022 majoring in Graphic Design. You may soon find Elijah on the job site as he’s been ready for his Uncle Doug to teach him all about gutters!

Efrain has been with Jim and Dun-Rite since nearly the beginning. He is married to Candie’s sister, Melinda. That makes him Jim’s Brother-in-law and the girls’ uncle. Efrain and Melinda have 5 children and 7 grandchildren.

Efrain served as the main crew leader for many years. These days he is our top repair guy and one of the most requested members of our team. Our customers absolutely adore him (as do we). After nearly 30 years in the business, this guys knows everything there is to know about a roof!
